EU strikes deal on world-first carbon border tariff

In order to meet the EU’s target of reducing carbon emissions by 55% by 2030 (compared to 1990 levels), the EU has taken action by introducing, the world-first border tariff on carbon emissions applicable to imports of polluting products such as cement. Combination of steel and cement, serve as the basis for over 90% of worldwide construction.
